Google Analytics Now Makes It Easier To Track Inbound Links And Stats From Its Social Hub Partners

Image (1) google-analytics-logo.png for post 23767Google today announced that it has redesigned some of Google Analytics‘ social reports to make it easier for publishers to see when they get inbound links from other sites. The update also makes it easier to track how people are engaging with a publisher’s content through the new Data Hub Activity report. Google Analytics’ Social Data Hub gets this data from partner sites like Reddit, and Digg and through commenting systems like Disqus, Echo and Livefyre, as well as a number of other services. The standalone Data Hub Activity report provides publishers with a “timeline of the number of activities that have occurred in the Social Data Hub and the raw activities in a list below.” The data can also be filtered by specific networks. All of this Social Hub data was already available previously, but it was mostly buried deep inside Google Analytics’ social reports. Now that this data is more visible, integrating with the Analytics Social Data Hub will surely become more interesting for companies that operate social networks and platforms as more Analytics users will now be aware of it and ask for this kind of integration so they can track all of their social engagement data in one place. Stats about trackbacks, too, were already available in Google Analytics, but they are now available in a standalone report. Previously, however, it was hard to see how important a certain inbound link really was. The new report, Google says, now provides more context “for the significance of each of these trackbacks by displaying the number of visits that were driven by each endorsing URL during the reporting period.”

Kardashians Bound & Gagged in Trunk of Ford For Car Ad (PHOTO)

Ford Khloe Kardashian Kim Kardashian Kourtney Kardashian Paris Hilton

(Ads of the World)

Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian were bound, gagged, and stuffed into the trunk of a car?? as Paris Hilton happily sat in the driver?s seat ? in?an ad for Ford.

The cartoon, which featured the reality TV rivals, was thought up by an ad agency in India that produces the campaigns there for the Ford Figo.

The tagline of the ad read,??Leave your?worries behind with Figo?s extra-large boot.?

And while the ad was never used in paid media ? and subsequently yanked for a website on which it was posted ? it?s still alive and well on the Internet.

WPP, the parent group of the Indian ad agency, issued an apology that read, ?We deeply regret the publishing of posters that were distasteful and contrary to the standards of professionalism and decency within WPP Group. These were never intended for paid publication and should never have been created, let alone uploaded to the internet.?

Ford also said it was sorry.

The car company told Business Insider, ?We deeply regret this incident and agree with our agency partners that it should have never happened. The posters are contrary to the standards of professionalism and decency within Ford and our agency partners.?

What do you think of the pulled ad?

Sexually abused or neglected adolescent girls at risk of becoming moms while still teenagers

Abused or neglected teenage girls become teen mothers at nearly five times the national rate of teen motherhood.

A new Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center study, published in the eFirst pages of the journal Pediatrics, shows that teen childbirth rates are more than 20 percent for abused and neglected teens. This compares to the national teen childbirth rate of approximately 4 percent.

The finding holds true even after taking into account such factors as race, family income and whether the family was a one- or two-parent household.

"Teen victims of sexual abuse may have distinct approaches to sex and sexual activity that can be attributed to traumatic sexualization," says Jennie Noll, PhD, director of research in Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology at Cincinnati Children's and the study's lead author. "On the other hand, neglect is an act of omission in which parents and caregivers fail to provide the needed care and opportunities for promoting safe and normal development. As with the general teen population, primary prevention programs targeting sexual activity will help mitigate the risk of childbirth for maltreated adolescents."

In this first ever prospective study of teen pregnancy (one that follows a group over time), Dr. Noll studied teen girls between 14 and 17, assessing them annually through the age of 19 to track their sexual activities, possible pregnancy and motherhood. About half of the teenagers in the study were recruited from child protective service agencies for having been abused or neglected within the past 12 months. The other half consisted of "comparison" teenage girls who had not experienced abuse or neglect but were similar in terms of age, income, minority status and family constellation (one- or two-parent households).

Fifty-four of those who had been abused or neglected had children, representing a teen childbirth rate of 20.3 percent. Sixteen of those in the comparison group had children, representing a teen childbirth rate of 9.4 percent.

"Although the comparison group had childbirth rates greater than twice the national rate of 4 percent, these girls were selected to be demographically similar to the abused sample, so they were from relatively low income, inner city neighborhoods places where teen childbirth rates are often higher than the national average," says Dr. Noll.

While teen birth rates in the United States have been declining since they peaked in 1991, the US continues to have one of the highest teen birth rates among industrialized nations. One explanation for this, according to Dr. Noll, is that there are risk factors for teen pregnancy and childbirth not addressed in current prevention efforts particularly for teen girls entering protective services due to abuse or neglect.

"Because victims of maltreatment are processed through child protective service agencies, caseworkers have a golden opportunity to educate these teen girls about the risk for, and consequences of, teen childbirth," says Dr. Noll.

The median age of all participants in Dr. Noll's study initial assessment was 15.26 years, median household income was $30,000 to $39,000, and 57 percent were from single parent households. Forty-eight percent were black and eight percent were biracial or multiracial.

Pakistan's Musharraf vows return despite risks

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) ? Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said Saturday that he will return to his homeland despite facing criminal charges and militant death threats.

Musharraf has been living in self-exile in London and Dubai for the last five years and is planning to return on Sunday to Pakistan. He risks possible arrest in connection with the killing of an ex-prime minister, while the Pakistani Taliban says they have an assassination team ready for him if he steps foot in the country.

He first declared his intention to go back earlier this year. On Saturday, he gave a news conference in Dubai confirming that he would be arriving in the port city of Karachi to take part in May 11 elections despite the "fear of the unknown." The former four-star general plans to travel there accompanied by journalists and supporters of his political party, All Pakistan Muslim League.

But just hours after the announcement, the Pakistan Taliban released a video threatening to unleash suicide bombers and snipers against Musharraf if he comes back. One of the two people speaking in the video was Adnan Rashid, a former Pakistani air force officer convicted in an attack against Musharraf. The Taliban broke Rashid, along with nearly 400 other detainees, out of Bannu prison last year.

"The mujahedeen of Islam have prepared a death squad to send Pervez Musharraf to hell," said Rashid in the video, speaking in front of a group of 20 militants holding rifles.

"We warn you to surrender yourself to us. Otherwise we will hit you from where you will never reckon," he said.

In the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks, Musharraf came under intense pressure from the U.S. to back the Americans in the coming war and cut off ties with the Taliban, which he did. For that, militants as well as many other Pakistanis see him as carrying out the American agenda in Pakistan.

Militants tried to kill him twice in December 2003 in Rawalpindi, the sister city to Islamabad where the Pakistani military is headquartered. First they placed a bomb intended to go off when his convoy passed by. When that didn't work, suicide attackers tried to ram his motorcade with explosives-laden vehicles. The president was unhurt but 16 others died. Rashid was arrested in connection with that assassination attempt.

Musharraf took power in a 1999 coup. He faces charges of conspiring to assassinate ex-premier Benazir Bhutto, who was killed in 2007, as well as other accusations in other cases. But his legal team petitioned a court in Sindh province where Karachi is located to give him preemptive bail, which essentially means that he will not be arrested immediately upon arrival. According to the bail order, he has ten days to present himself to the court.

Musharraf has called the charges baseless.
